Imaginary Friends.

In this series children and little girls inhabit strange landscapes with even stranger creatures. What are they? Who are they? Are they friend or foe?

To Dunlop, these creatures are protective, mostly friendly or simply ambivalent. They aren’t quite what they seem, some have human hands and body parts, others are in masks and ribbons.

Fairy Tales

This series is filled with magic, mystery and morbid details. Fairy tales can stray from the happy into the surreal in a heart beat. Dunlop is fascinated by these tales that used to be told by the fire side, and which are found across every culture.

This series is painted on miniature post cards, in watercolour and pencil.

Fun Fact: Many of these fairytale designs were painted while my newborn daughter was napping, (in my lap or just out of sight).

Adventures in the Garden at Night

This series shows larger works painted on birch panel and canvas. Dunlop focusses on paper and petite paintings, but does stray into larger formats from time to time. You can see the same themes and ideas weaving through her work, no matter the medium used.
